Orlando Workshop Series – Social Media 101 for Real Estate Professionals

There are 4 workshops in this series: LinkedIn 101, Facebook 101, Blogging 101 and Twitter 101.

Each session will include a 2-hour training session with hand out as well as the option to participate in a group conference call a week later to discuss techniques and challenges from the workshop.

Computers are not recommended. The sessions are intended to be fast paced and rich in content. Participants may fall behind if they are trying to keep up on the computer.  Each workshop is currently limited to 8 participants. If there is a high enough demand, we will host another series.

Workshops are $39.00 each per person.  We are currently running a special:  All 4 workshops for $100.00, this special price is available only at the beginning of the series by prepaying.

blog ranked Twitter as the fastest growing site in the Member
Communities category for February 2009. Twitter had a growth of 1382%, Zimbio had a growth of 240%, followed by Facebook with a growth of 228%.

leaders have made headlines with their tweets.

David Saranga of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that on December 30, 2008, Israel would be the first government to hold a worldwide press conference via Twitter to take questions from the public about the war against Hamas in Gaza. The Los Angeles Fire Department put the technology to use during the October 2007 California wildfires. Some NASA projects such as Space Shuttle missions and the International Space Station provide updates via Twitter. Several 2008 U.S. presidential campaigns used Twitter as a publicity mechanism, including that of Democratic Party nominee and President Barack Obama. The Nader–Gonzalez campaign updated its ballot access teams in real-time with Twitter and Google Maps. Twitter use increased 43% on election day. The use of Twitter by victims, bystanders, and the public to gather news and coordinate responses to the November 2008 Mumbai siege led CNN to call it “the day that social media appeared to come of age.”

British celebrity Stephen Fry is also well known for having a large number of followers, and was reported in The Times as being the celebrity with the most followers on Twitter. However, the most followed celebrity today, and second overall after the CNN “Breaking News’” account, is American popstar Britney Spears. The College of Computing of Georgia Institute of Technology and the College of Engineering of University of Texas at San Antonio have been using Twitter to send information to their students. The Faculty of Psychology of the University of Vienna has been using Twitter for formative course evaluation.

Orlando “Intro to web 2.0″ presentation…success!!

Today’s “Intro to Web 2.0” presentation went great!  After the presentation, Matt and I sat together and reviewed all the attendees’ surveys.  We were happy that there were very few suggestions for improvements…however, we are grateful for the suggestions we did receive.  Based on the overwhelming comment that people just want us to go more in depth…we are removing a few elements from the presentation so that we can do just that.  Ultimately, we will keep the most important stuff…but more importantly…the most interesting stuff!  We’ll roll out the updated presentation in February with our next set if Intros.  

Also in February…weedott will be offering seminars to follow the ideas discussed in our intro presentation.  We’re excited because we’ve partnered with some great talent and experts in the area to bring you the most up-to-date and relevant information in online social networking and Web 2.0!  Follow our RSS feed so that you can keep up with us or keep checking back to see what we’re up to!
